My kids like to watch Spongebob and all the other Nick and Disney cartoons and programs. The other day one was on and it was Christmas everyday! Yup, everyday the main character (Timmy) would wake up to Christmas. Well the plot kinda went like this. Since it was Christmas everyday Santa couldn't keep up and people were running out of food because the stores were closed ( I guess they didn't have 7-11's). It was a terrible situation. No presents and no food. I think the worst part was the carolers. They had to go out into the cold every day. They looked rugged after several days went by. Not to mention the piles of snow that literally flooded into the house after a few days of Christmas ( I think it's supposed to snow on Christmas).
O.K., O.K. you say . Enough already! what is your point? Simply this - What does Christmas mean to you? Is it the food? The snow? The presents? Simply asked - Is Christmas about things? I don't think so. Here is what Christmas is all about.
1. JESUS - He was a gift to all mankind. God's gift to BE the only way to overcome sin in our lives. What is the value of a human life? Another human life. What is the value of sin? Being sinless. Christ died a cruel death on the cross. Our sin put Him there and when He arose He washed that sin away. We were washed by His blood! Wow what does that mean to me? I am clean. I am free. I am given value in Christ. Because of believing in what He has done. Not by anything that I have done. What is the result of this relationship with God through Christ? Love - Real love, true love. The kind that is mentioned by the Apostle Paul in 1st Corinthians 13. Love that never fails, love that is not puffed up, love that encourages and yes love that can properly rebuke. Let's love each other this Christmas. Our families, friends and our neighbors. Let's know the true joy and fullness that God has given to us by understanding the love He gave and continues to give to us in His Son Jesus, "The exact representation of God".
2. There is no #2.
