Are You Too "Salesy"?

While editing Quick CMA's and other materials agents have been sending me for my "two cents," I've discovered a lot of salesspeak in the verbage.

If you're finding yourself frustrated at a lack of response when you give your materials to prospects, some of it is just the way today's consumer is.  THEY have control of communication and you might as well get used to it.  If they don't want to contact you, they won't, and you can't take it personally.

However, take the time to scrutinize the verbage in the materials you give your clients and prospects:

"Take advantage of this free offer with no obligation."

"Be assured that you will receive competent and professional service when you engage me and the extensive resources of real estate company name to work for you."

"I hope the information provided will confirm that I am the best qualified to successfully market your home in the shortest time possible for the maximum price possible."

"You will be provided with excellent service and support."

These are examples of the homogenized salesspeak that causes today's consumer to be even more skeptical of you, rather than earning their trust.  Three of the above sentences came from the CMA templates of some major real estate companies.

Is this REALLY the best they can do?  With little or no thought, yes it is.

It's not good enough and it's hurting your efforts in most cases.  Check your materials and think independently.  Just because it's given to you doesn't mean it's good enough.

If you have this language in your materials, remove it and replace it with something better.  Something that requires a little thought and that sets you apart from your competition.  If you need help with this kind of thing, consult your coach.  If you don't have one, heck give me a call or an email.

Scrutinize everything you give people...it's a representation of YOU.

And you want your prospects to regard you as something more than "competent" and "professional."

I agree - and clients like to feel that they're receiving personal info rather than a canned email, etc.
