Many would be surprised to hear an opinion that now is a great time to get into the real estate business. Like everything else in our economy, we are in a kind of flushing out process. Realtor membership is expected to dramatically decrease. The housing downturn will weed out real estate professionals who are unproductive and uncommitted. That's good for our industry. There are some who will say that we don't need anymore people in our industry. But we do. We need great people.
A typical economic downturn lasts about 17 months normally. Of course this downturn is anything but normal. Even so, we are now 12 months into it. When the economy returns, the real estate industry will be a fantasic place to be from a career stand point. Those entering the industry today will be in a great position for the future. Between now and 2010, new agents can focus on education, systems and networking.
Our industry needs great people with fresh ideas. I know we'll find them.
