HAPPY HOLIDAYS!!
It's that time of year again. People will be coming over; you'll be cooking and preparing small feasts for all the family gatherings. You will have candles burning and fires going, and you will be warm and cozy.
Don't forget that while all this is going on, you want your family to be as safe as possible.
Don't forget to check your smoke alarms. Make sure they are properly installed and make sure they are working. Check the batteries.
You should have smoke alarms in all sleeping areas and in all hallways. Smoke rises, so ensure that you install them where they will give you early warnings.
Remember to vacuum and clean around your smoke alarms on a regular basis. Test them and make sure they ‘chirp'. Dust and debris can interfere with the operation of the alarm, so ensure you keep them clean.
Like most things, there will be a time when they will need to be replaced. You don't want to use them longer than you need to. The savings is not worth a life.
Write the date of purchase on the inside, so you can remember to replace them before their life runs out (usually about 10 years, but some may not last that long. Always follow manufacturers' instructions when replacing them.
Have a happy and safe holiday.
May 2009 bring you joy, happiness, lots of love and prosperity; but most of all, good health.
