I've recently had the opportunity to stage a home that was built in the year 2004, yet furnished with mid-century furniture and accessories. The property was demanding furniture that was modern for today's time. The house featured high ceilings, open design and typical johnson county colors. The house dwarfed the tiny furniture of the 1950's style making it look rediculously small and confusing. Once again, most buyer's cannot invision the possibilities of a home so this property had been listed for almost a year before the home got what it was asking for....the right furniture for the space.
Contrary to the way it sounds, I am a huge fan of the mid-century furnishings. What I am expressing is for one to listen to their house and what it needs. Mid-century furniture needs a mid-century home or funky loft space. Pairing house design with the right furniture will make a marriage of years of happiness to come.
What is your house telling you?
