"SHIFT Happens!"

Yes, you read that correctly.  And in Keller Williams country, it's a little phrase we've been having fun with over the last several months.  Ever since the latest book in the Millionaire Real Estate book series came out.

It's a red and white paperback book entitled "SHIFT: How Top Real Estate Agents Tackle Tough Times".  After all . . . "IT'S NOT ABOUT THE MARKET . . . It's about what you do!"

What an awesome book . . . especially for the market we find ourselves in.

Well, I had a lot of fun playing Santa's helper today, traveling from one real estate office to another, dropping "SHIFT" everywhere (OK, maybe I'm having a little too much fun with that word!)

But what our team decided to do was to gift wrap the SHIFT books and hand deliver them with a hand written note to all of the real estate agents that we had great transactions with over the last year.  After all, if an agent is able to get to the closing table in this market, they're already ahead of the game. 

Why not reward them for their hard work with an excellent book that could possibly take their business to the next level?

Of course, this is not the most elaborate gift in the world, but it sure did feel good to take a step out and do the unexpected.  After all, when is the last time you received a Christmas present from an agent you had a cross deal with?

Who knows . . . it may not turn in to anything, but by trying to reach across the table with a friendly gesture, I have a feeling that the next time one of these agents has a chance to work with our team again, they'll remember this gesture and be more likely to want to work with us again in the future! :)

Shawna, what a great present to give to other agents- and of course a little recruiting along with it? But so what? You have to go for it.

I'm really thinking of getting that book. Is it as good as Gary's other books?

Yes, what I've read so far is very good and very practical for today's market.  I must admit that I'm not all the way through it yet, but it just seemed like a great idea. 

As a follow up, I figured that it would be a good excuse to stay in touch with these same agents over the next year...whenever we have a SHIFT training coming to our area!

I would definitely recommend getting it.  And...our team leader had ordered a case of them so I was able to buy each book for only $10.  Maybe you can get the same deal!  Good Luck!  Let me know how you like it! :)

Thanks Trunda!  You know how certain ideas just come to you sometimes?  You're not really sure where they came from but something just tells you to follow through with it.  That's where this little idea came from.

Today I had another thought...what about giving the "FLIP" book to clients (present or past) as Christmas gifts?  Obviously, this wouldn't be for everyone...but certainly for anyone that seems "curious" about the market or that could use a little extra money...???  Just a thought....

I love Gary Keller's book Shift and what he says about staging -- he loves us!  Price bring them in, staging gets the offers . . .

Great idea to give them as a gift -- upbeat and easy, fun read!

Yes, the staging is definitely critical in a buyer's market.  In a seller's market, the sellers are in control, but in a buyer's market the seller better be putting their best foot forward at all times!

Thanks Jim....have you had a chance to read it yet?  I also thought a book might be a nice gift for a realtor at this time of year as we're gearing up for the new year and...maybe we have a little less appointments than normal at this time of year.  Plus, with all of the ice storms we've been having in our neck of the woods this week, it makes for a great time to stay in where it's warm and snuggle up with a good book! :)
