Why aren't there any free, decent, and informative foreclosure websites??

I don't know about you, but I have tried countless times to search for foreclosures on the internet and every website requires you to sign up for a subscription before they give you ANY relevant information. I was actually a suck a few years ago and signed up for one and every property (there were hardly any in the areas I was interested in) was either sold or horrible!

I know that you can find local tax sales in the newspaper but I don't understand why they (I don't even know who "they" are!?!) make it soooo difficult to track the properties down without paying a fee!

Elyse, in Oregon we can get a report from a Title company with properties in foreclosure. You can also set up a relationship with several lenders or banks and get lists. Find out who handles forclosures for the banks in your area and see if you can get on their distribution list.

Dennis's sites are probably the best ones out there. The other sites charge fees because they are seeing people driven to this market by the belief that banks give away houses fro pennies on the dollar. If you have been in the REO business for any amount of time ou learn the ones sold well below value usually have some stigma or repairs required to make it inhabitable

When folks speak about wanting 'foreclosure' information from web sites they are usually asking about either REO, or properties in foreclosure, but still owned by the mortgagor. You can pay for the convenience of information being packaged and delivered to your PC, as well as to each and every other subscriber.  Or, you can visit your County Clerk and get the public information, usually for free.
