Great question. I will bookmark this blog and look forward to comments. Thanks for starting the thread.
Marjorie: If your mind works like mine then the monetary goals don't mean much without the daily activities you need to do to actually make the money....Kelly
Kelly,
The business plan needs to be realistic if you want to stick with it through 2009. I would make more time to prospect and work hard, because who knows what the year holds in hand for us all.
Best of luck and happy Holiday's
At our latest office meeting our manager wrote two things on the board: STP and GOYA.
STP: See 20 People: weekly
GOYA: she had us do this. There was a dollar bill under one of our chairs. It stands for: GET OFF YOUR ASS.
Simple goals for simple people LOL.
Have a great holiday so you can STP and GOYA in 2009!
Bonnie
Veronica: Ok I can STP and GOYA but I want a check list of specifics to get me to the people and off the chair. My mind works in concrete and check lists, I am a highly organized person and want to have a list of duites for each day of the week and am looking for SPECIFIC activities lists or a specific plan.
Good for you for thinking and planning ... having a plan is so necessary and will keep you focused and clear. Remember once you write it break it down to monthly , weekly, review it and give yourself specific goals and objectives so you know if you are on track or what you need to do more or less of. To a prosperous year in 2009!
oh and I used to show my Appaloosas at the Harford County Fairgrounds - small world :-)
Kelly, I think the idea plan starts first with identifying what's important to you. There's no point in making $2M/year if you have no time to spend with the ones you love (assuming that's important to you). Therefore, get CLEAR on what your priorities are for all the roles of your life. THEN block off time on your weekly schedule for the things that are most important FIRST. Your broker should be able to share some basic metrics with you based on local/state/national experience. (To close ### transactions, you need to have ### listings/buyers, which means you need to contact ### PEOPLE to reach that - now some simple division (remember to count out for vacation time) and you know how many people you need to "reach" each week for each of the areas of your business. You can further break it down to how many of those "contacts" are email, postal mail, in person, etc. With that info, you can block off prospecting time before your calendar fills up.
I know that EXiT Realty has business plans for our agents to fill in the blanks, some offices have expanded it, others just have the basics. I would presume that other brands have similar tools for their agents so ask your broker for guidance.
You're taking the most important step GET IT WRITTEN DOWN so you can hold yourself accountable with monthly/quarterly/etc. reviews.
When I was at Century 21 my office manager had a wonderfully easy, simple business plan that I've adapted and now re use in my office for my agents. I'll email it to you.
If you are able to lay your hands on a good one, please share with us.........it is amazing how much I have learned from the members of AR.....
If anyone has a business plan, can you please share it with me? I need help to craft a very impressive business plan. Great post.
I agree with the comments above: first you need to determine what is important to you. Timeblock your vacations/date nights/personal time FIRST. Then, you can work in the business tasks that will help you achieve your goals. I've pulled my numbers for the last few years to see how my business is trending and will incorporate that into my 2009 plan.
Julie: I am happy to share if anyone has one. I am looking for a list of tasks. I already know how to income project I want a daily task list.
Carol: Do you have a wrok plan? What do you do each day to work towards your goals?
JUNE: Thank you so much for the list and worksheet. I will be working on my plan tomorrow and will likely post it when completed
Coco - I was in a coaching program a few years ago, and they pushed us to really come up with the big WHY - why you want to achieve your goals. Then, timeblock your schedule for personal/professional goals - schedule time for yourself first, others second. So, the schedule is really driven by what each individual wants to achieve, and their why. Personally, I schedule time for working out, lead generation, prospect follow up, seller follow up, previewing properties, etc. You may find a more comprehensive task list in a real estate book, possiblly Millionaire Real Estate Agent. I do have some forms I can send you from the coaching class - let me know if you'd like me to email them to you directly.
Hi Kelly,
Julie and I created a free video that is designed to help fellow Realtors create their business plans.
This is a how-to, step-by-step plan that covers all of this most important elements of any business plan.

I also have been looking for a plan with daily-weekly activities. I also got the how much money do you want, how many transactions, how many prospects-that is not what I was looking for either. Let me know if you find anything. I will do the same.
