I have seen a growing number of bad inspections lately. It seems like the some of the experienced inspectors that know how to inspect are getting lazy and the new inspectors (out of work construction people) don't have the experience. A while ago, I inspected a home in Minneapolis that had been inspected by a Minneapolis "Truth in Housing" inspector and by an inspector from one of the largest inspection companies in Minnesota. Both inspectors missed crucial things like plumbing venting problems that were extremely obvious. The repairs for this young couple were going to be around $8000. Again, I can't stress enough...BE CAREFUL! These bad inspectors are giving this home inspection occupation a bad name. If any of you have clients that have questions about the inspection process, home repairs, or general home maintenance have them call me. I will be glad to help whether they use me of not. I just hate to see anyone get "ripped off" with such a big investment. REMEMBER, NO LICENSE IS REQUIRED IN MINNESOTA.
Good Luck,
