Great places abound.
I was in one of my three most favorite coffee shops earlier this month: The Java House at the corner of Washington and Evergreen. If you haven't had the good fortune of going there already, please do stop in soon. Cora and Doris were serving, and they are consistently friendly and a pleasure to speak to.
Even if you're going to have foo-foo coffee (and that's okay, really), stop here. The service and atmosphere are that good. If you are a more - ummm - hardcore(?) coffee drinker, like me, then you'll want to take advantage of the great big selection of coffees they offer.
The treat for me this month was the Dark Mexican Panache. OMG. It was a beautiful cup of coffee. I was really pleased that it had richness and smoothness all at the same level. The acid level probably has a measure; I don't know what it was, but it was second place to the richer flavor this coffee had.
If you're not in the mood for coffe, my personal experience with their tea selection has been more than satisfactory. In fact, I'd say that their tea selection is a great reason to visit too.
While I'm there, I don't mean to eavesdrop, but there's often quite interesting conversations at the other tables. If active eavesdropping isn't your cup of tea (pun!) then wander around the in-door common area and enjoy fabulous art, compliments of Art on the Boulevard.
