EVERYONE IS AN EXPERT

By
Real Estate Agent with Keller Williams

I got a good laugh this morning. Checking out a listing in a high end subdivisio. The listing brokerage has specialized in high end listings for many years. Guess sales are getting lean.

Out of NOWHERE, their web site claims they are "The areas only brokerage specializing in REO properties." They have fewer total listings than we have REOs. We have 120 REOs and 39 in the pre-list and they have about 6 total listings and only about 2 are REO.

Is this fake it 'til you make it or just flat out lying?

Anybody else out there seeing all these "specialists" and "experts" popping up?

See it everyday and the signs and billboards are becoming an eyesore. A few of the "experts" made statements 6 months ago that they would be glad when the market turned around so the REO agents would be gone. Guess their bottom line began to look like s**t so they became "experts.

There are a lot of Realtors turning to REO these days to try to make a living because other areas of the market have declined and are not selling. I've seen offices close or "merge" because the sales aren't there anymore.  I've noticed high end brokers who were used to selling luxury, commercial or high end properties transition over to the reo/foreclosure market segments. It seems that everyone wants to be an expert and tell you how to do your job after a few weeks of looking at REOs or writing an offer on an REO.  So it is up to the real experts to help educate the real estate community because this will be a trend for the next 3-4 years, according to DSNews, over 8.1 million U.S. homes will be foreclosed by the year 2012.
