RETEST TO GET A MIN OF A 110 GT SCORE AND OBTAIN ANY WAIVERS IF NEEDED 7. GET YOUR DA PHOTO 8. GET YOUR PAPERWORK TOGETHER (DA FORMS, 2A &2-161, 160, 209 or 200, 3574* or 3575*, 4989-R, and RESUME 9. LASTLY GET YOUR LETTERS OF RECOMMENDATION |

LAST, THAT IS BECAUSE THEY ARE ONLY GOOD FOR 90 DAYS (UNLESS DUE TO PCS)
AND MORE IMPORTANTLY THE PERSONS GIVING YOUR LETTERS WILL WANT
TO SEE A COPY OF WHAT YOU HAVE COMPLETED ON YOUR FLIGHT PACKET
FLIGHT SCHOOL PREREQUISITES
Duties: Pilots and commands utility helicopters under tactical and non tactical conditions. Operates aircraft during all types of meteorological conditions during day, night, and under night vision goggles. Performs military aircraft operation, rescue hoist operations, air assault operations, aerial mine/flare delivery, internal/external load operations, and paradrop/rappelling procedures. Observation/utility helicopters may perform aerial route, zone, and area reconnaissance in support of combat maneuver operations. Additionally, observation/utility helicopters may be used in administrative or liaison missions to transport passengers, mail, or cargo for military purposes. Routinely participates in training operations to include combat, combat support, or combat service support operations. Maintains ATM requirements in appropriate aircraft.

Vision Requirements Change for Aviator Candidates
The Office of the Surgeon General recently approved a change in vision requirements for U.S. Army warrant officer aviator candidates to allow for corrected vision. Applicants for MOS 153A,
Aviator, now must meet the standards for the Class 1A flight physical (previous standard was Class 1). You are not qualified with uncorrected distant visual acuity worst than 20/50 in each eye and/or not correctable with spectacle lenses to 20/20 in each eye. You can view the full vision standards in para 4.12, AR 40-501. A change will be published to AR 40-501 to reflect the new standards, however, the regulation is currently under revision and is not expected to be published for 6 months to one year. Your local hospital or medical clinic may be unaware of the change so you should print a copy of the approval by
and take with you to your physical appointment.
Any MOS may apply
Be at least 18, but not have reached their 29th birthday at the convening of the selection board
Not have exceeded the age of 30 upon beginning of flight training
Score 90 or higher on the Alternate Flight Aptitude Selection Test (AFAST)
Successfully pass a Class 1A Flying Duty Medical Examination (FDME) IAW AR 40-501 that has been approved by the Commander, U.S. Army Aeromedical Center
Interviewed by an Army Aviator in the rank of CW3-5 or Major and above. If the unit commander or above is a field grade aviator, the aviator interview may be part of the commander's endorsement. In this case, the commander's endorsement must contain the same statement required for the aviator interview. Use a memorandum format and start with the statement " I have interviewed (your name) and find (he/she) has the
needed personal characteristics, motivation, physical stamina, and qualifications to be appointed a U.S. Army Reserve warrant officer and appears acceptable for selection into the WOFT program as a warrant officer candidate."
Applicants from other military services may be interviewed by a field grade aviator from their branch of service if an Army aviator is not readily available. Army aviators will conduct the interviews whenever possible.
Preferred qualifications (Minimum plus):
Two years of college credit at an accredited institution
Federal Aviation Agency (FAA) Private Pilots certificate or higher
