MLS Hotsheets for SEO

By
Real Estate Broker/Owner with LakeRealtors.com

Fresh, relevent content should be your first priority when thinking about how to get your real estate web site to rank higher in searches. I've found that one of the best ways to accomplish this, while providing your readers with the content they want most (latest mls listings) is to setup a Hotsheet page for each city or neighborhood in your market. With the right IDX feed, this can easily be accomplished. My Hotsheets are built using a feed from Realtygenerator. Simply build a page for your top 5 markets, and use your IDX feed to create automatically updating Hotsheet pages and you will soon be ranked number 1 for any search in that market. Good luck.  Re-post from my personal blog.

Paul im going to ask my IDX provider for info about feeds to setup a Hotsheet. I see from your profile that his is not available to all IDX's! Paul I do have a Point 2 Agent website with Point 2 NLS (I see that it supports this IDX) my current IDX is Listingware that doesnt support it. Thanks.

I checked Listingware's site and it doesn;t look like they are setup with the type of feed to make this work, however, its very easy using your Point2 feed.  I setup a very basic site for Cabo san Lucas that is now generating about 100 leads per month.  Its not very pretty, but very effective.

The feeds from Realtygenerator, are much easier to work with.  My main site for Southwest Michigan, thedailylistings.com, it built almost entirely using these feeds.  One the page is setup, all the listings are automaticlly updated every day with the latest listings shown at the top of each page.  Search engines love this, and if course, visitors keeping tabs on the market get addicted to it.  Add a link asking them to subscribe to a newsletter and you'be got a client for life.  I have been doing this with thedailylistings.com since July of 2004, and I now have more than 3000 subscribers to my newsletter.

Point2's system has the type of feeds (rss/xml) that allow me to publish these quite easily.  I would recommend that you get a domain name that either represents your "brand" or is keyword relevant to your market.  For example, I have a hotsheet setup for New Buffalo, MI at www.newbuffalomichiganrealestate.com

and then another at my "brand" site:
http://www.thedailylistings.com/southwest-michigan--harborcountry/michigan-lakefront-property/new-buffalo-mi-real-estate.html

Together, I rank at the top of all search engines for "new buffalo real estate", new buff, mi real estate", "new buffalo michigan real estate", etc...  And if you want to take that same approach one step further, I use http://www.swmre.com for general "Southwest Michigan Real Estate" or similiar search term.

All these example sites are the Hotsheets I am speaking of.  All are 100%, day to day, maintenance free, as they update themselves.

Best,
Paul
