Power Company Doing It’s Best . . . .

It’s been twelve days, and some people still do not have power. I know how difficult that is, however, I am getting a little tired of hearing the politicians DEMANDING a reason to the company’s length of time to get everyone back on the grid, and bad-mouthing the power companies. It seems evident that we experienced a crisis. One the company was not at all prepared for, and has had to call in utility companies from around the country and Canada, to help remedy this situation. This crisis, is the largest one we have experienced in the state on NH. It is obvious to me, that the utility company has enough trucks and staff for a little more than the everyday work required for them. This is just good business – reducing capital equipment and salary costs. Why on earth would a politician think that they could possibly handle getting electric back to 400,000 customers in record time. I for one, saw the utilities companies out in this past snow storm still working in dire conditions. Some of these guys are from Tennessee and have only seen this type of condition once or twice in their life. Can you imagine them having to work in this? Talk about being a fish out of water! Don’t get me wrong, I do feel bad for those still without power; but I just feel these politicians are using this crisis to try to earn brownie points- or should I say voter ‘s points! Instead, I wish they would use their power to help unite us and let us know, that as difficult as it is, everyone is doing their best. Provide us with directions to assist those in need, and perhaps start volunteer squads to check on people, or bring people to shelters. Oh, and of course, THEY could use THEIR money to bring in MORE utility companies to assist us, at getting everyone back online quicker, instead of JUST whining and complaining out loud! I just think a little leadership of confidence and direction, would be much more helpful to everyone, than the anger and divisive tactics directed towards the power company, they are currently using.

I am sure the line workers are well paid and they probably jumped at the overtime.  I was out for 8 cold days and feel terrible for those that are still out 12 days later.

Personally there is no excuse for this...people have died in their homes trying to stay warm.

I think the whole thing was mismanaged by the power companies, town officials and who ever over sees emergencies in the state of NH.

I very much appreciate the people that are out working in horrible conditions to try their best to help those of us without power get it restored. But they will at least get healthy pay checks and were doing their jobs, those of us who lost power in the storm won't get a paycheck in fact for many of us it cost us lot of money to try and survive and save our homes.

I don't agree with the people who have "snapped" and vented at the line workers...that is wrong. But I do believe the power companies have a lot to answer for.

Hopefully everyone will have power restored tomorrow!

MY Wish List to Santa:

I hope power is restored for everyone to make it a WARM Christmas!  and that the line WOrker's make it home in time for the holiday w/ their families. i also hope that those who have their power restored recently , do not have the second crisis of having to deal w/ burst pipes, and faltering heating systems.

If Santa can deliver all this - there really is Magic! :-)

Alisa, I truly cannot even begin to understand how hard it must be to live in New Hampshire with these ice storms. It amazes me that more people don't relocate to sunny - albeit hot in the summer - Arizona. Although it is one of the top three states for relocations. Have a Merry Christmas, and I hope everyone gets their power on. That's terrible.

At least here, we are somewhat used to it, and prepared for it. (Somewhat -being the operative word). Have you seen what is going on in Seattle ?? They are getting SOCKED, and they are only used to rain!

and yes, it may be hot in the summertime in Arizona, but it is dry.  I think your 118 degree days are more comfortable than our 90 degree days.  And to my suprise - you don't have bugs!  We sat out all evening in the open patio without one Mosquito to bother us.

Okay - you've sold me - I think I will relocate! LOL

Merry Christmas to you too!
