Will 2009 Really Be Fine?
For over 30 years I have been involved in some sort of business on my own and have been having a blast. During the not so good times I learned what not to do and what to do when things got better. Today I believe we are in a time when those with multiple experiences and passion to move to higher heights will set industry records.
Since the advent of the internet there have been many of us trying to master monetizing it. Few succeeded in the beginning. It was those who championed creating and selling the initial concepts that did well. Right now the internet is not nearly as intimidating as it used to be. Anybody who has a sincere desire to learn how to monetize it can do so in their chosen field of endeavor.
Think about this for a moment. How many people have their own networks today? To even think about having a network online just 2 years ago would have meant you had to be an internet guru. Not so today. With Ning and other networks like Ryze, Meetup and others anybody can have a network. In most cases it's free.
If you have noticed anything you will notice that whatever network you happen to be apart of rather it's yours or professional network, advertising is smack dab in your face. Free networks are made available to multitudes because the more networks, the more eyes on the advertising.
What if Google or Yahoo decided they would pay you to click on ads. What would you do? Would you investigate their offer? There are multiplied billions of dollars moving from television, radio and billboard advertising to the internet. The companies who have found the formula of getting more advertising in front of the most eyes are winning in a big way financially.
Look at the model of television just 20 years ago. There was no cable T.V. or satellite T.V. so the advertising dollars were swept right into their arms. But since the internet we see those dollars shrinking in T.V and increasing with internet companies.
Our social time these days is being filled with time on the internet meeting all sorts of people from all over the world. Isn't a blast that you can meet people from all over the world and not have to spend a dime to do it? If I were a betting man, I would bet you the the internet companies and the advertisers are more happy that you are spending time on the internet meeting people socially. I say this because the more time we spend on the internet the more familiar and comfortable we get with responding to their advertisements.
Getting back to the monetization of the internet, isn't it about time that the average person get the opportunity to cash in? As an example, I have literally thousands of people I have met through the various networks I have participated in over the years of being on the internet. Many of these folks I have become good friends with. We share ideas and help each other all the time. When they come across something, I don't mind receiving information from them if they genuinely think it will benefit me and vice versa.
With ever increasing personal networks, we all have the chance to earn a substantial living on the internet if we keep building strong relationships and offering legitimate assistance to our friends and associates. After all the game hasn't changed that much. People still do business with people they know, like and trust.
In closing I say, don't stop building strong relationships. Always look to be of assistance to those in your network. Monetize the internet as often as you can.
