I have been meaning to sit down and write my first official blog for weeks now.
But I had a recent move and active real estate business that made it difficult to focus on it. So I decided to set blogging aside and think about what I would say in my first official blog. Which is all in the timing of things that I decided to write about moving and my thoughts on it. Since I am a real estate agent and assist people to the point of moving all the time, I have some very vivid thoughts on the subject.
Each time I post a SOLD sign on a property or give a buyer keys to their new home, there is the inevitable move pending. There is excitement of the new place and the new phase of life.
The interesting thing is that when you haven't moved for a while, the pain and frustration of moving disappear. When people tell you they are moving, you empathize and shake your head saying, "Oh, that's no fun. That's a lot of work!" and then you go on to your nice, organized, lovely home where you can find everything and you make dinner, do the dishes and settle in for a nice quiet evening.
But the movee has a big chore ahead.
Even with movers, packers, organizing services, and designers to assist, there is nothing easy about having your stuff in boxes. If you're like me, and very type A and like to know where everything is, you might even have a break down once or twice in the process.
I can say that finally after about 3 weeks I am sort of settled in. After pulling a late night (late by my standards is 10p.m. since I am usually in bed much earlier!), my home office is coming together; this is the biggest thing since I work from home a lot, and I enjoy a clutter-free desk so I can think clearly. You might think I am strange that I marvel at my organized home office. I actually get a chuckle when I can just reach and grab and office supply I need like a paper clip, stapler, etc. I love staring at my organized office and handy work (thanks a TON to my husband for hanging the shelves on the wall...and sorry for the extra holes I promise I will fix them!). I love seeing my organized binders for everything business related on my shelves, ready to pull down at the first sign of needing the information in there.
Okay, maybe for some people moving isn't a big deal. But for type A and people like me, it really throws a kink in the wrench and I don't like it one bit. But now that I'm feeling operational on the home office front, I can buckle down and get to work. I can forge ahead and help more people with their next move. I can follow up on my escrows and my marketing. Back to work. Ahh, I'm so organized!
Now where did I put my pen?
