Day 16: Addison Riley's 3rd Birthday and Christmas Eve!
It's Christmas Eve and not a lot of work is going on around my house today for you see, it is also Addison Riley's Birthday. I'm spending a lot of time with the family right now as I hope all of you are doing.
Although the clock is ticking and we are now Only 85 Days from our goal, you are not expected to work every single day.
Brian Buffini states that you must, "Win the Day." How do you Win the Day? In order to Win the Day all you have to do is 2 hours of proactive activities for that day. What are proactive activities? As we make it through the Holidays, I want everyone to think about 2009. What we are going to do is isolate the number one CHANGE that you wanted to make in this program. We are going to apply "target fixation".
What is "target fixation?"
"Target fixation" is simply isolating one thing out of a bunch of things and then gravitating towards it. Let me give you an example. Let's just say that if you where looking at a white piece of paper that had hundreds and hundreds of little blue dots on it. Simple enough. All you see are little blue dots. Now let's say that there is one little red dot. When you look at the paper your eyes will be immediately drawn to the red dot. That's "target fixation." No matter where you look on that piece of paper your eyes will always be drawn to that one red dot.
What we are going to do is quite simple. We are going to take that number one thing that we identified through prioritizing our 5 Things That We Want to Change and make it our red dot. It may take a while for you to lose the tangible associations that you current have in regards to your number one thing to change but eventually you will be able to break it down. You will always be attracted to your red dot. That is how you will acheive your change.
