If YOU Don't Accommodate Your Client, Someone Else WILL
Thinking today about one of Katerina Gasset's post, she mentioned the fact that she never works on Sunday. I was impressed. I DO work on Sunday because most of my clients work all week and don't want to take a day off for a Feng Shui Consultation.
It especially made me think because I had just booked an appointment for THIS Sunday. I realize many people wait longer to actually pick up the phone and schedule an appointment. Some are put off by prices or just by conflicts of wondering whether a Feng Shui Consultation will help them. My New York Feng Shui clients range from true skeptics to those that absolutely KNOW it WORKS.
Still, they can find those phone calls daunting. No doubt they will want to speak to a few Feng Shui Consultants to find the one they are most comfortable with...in the methods they chose and a general feeling of the energy that comes across over the phone. My call today was unexpected-my potential client asked if I could come first thing tomorrow morning.
I was not able to accommodate their request and offered him a date in January. "You don't understand" he told me, "I want one NOW." Sunday I was booked as well but knew these people could probably be a bit more flexible in the time. I called them to see if I could make it later then originally scheduled and they were fine with the idea. I was also fortunate: Both of my Feng Shui clients are not only in Manhattan, they are BOTH in Times Square!
I could have easily turned this prospective client down....but I do know the feeling of having put off something I KNOW I need to do and then wanting it done as soon as possible. I also knew that if I didn't do the consultation THIS WEEKEND, he would find someone who would.
Katerina's and my circumstances are different. My children are grown and my daughter, Laura Cerrano works with me while Katerina still has a little one around. But it made me wonder:
How strict are YOUR BOUNDERIES? DO YOU ACCOMDATE YOUR CLIENTS THE BEST YOU CAN?
