Opportunity in the sale of privately held companies

Hello to all, I will post here discussions of numerous issues regarding the sale of privately held companies. I know that there are talented financial people who look at their recent business activities as being in a slump that may last for a while. Industries such as residential real estate, industrial/commercial real estate, land sales and development and leasing . . . these areas of real estate are in slumps that seem destined to last at least until the end of Summer '09, with perhaps another 2-4 years before the good times return. Some of the topics I hope to discuss here in the future include: 1. Small Business Administration 7(A) loans - the loan for all seasons. 2. The surge in severence packages - the first time since 1991 that so many qualified buyers of businesses, with down payments in hand, have been in the market and saying "I will never work for someone else again." 3. Installment sales vs. third party financing - why so many CPAs are advising sellers to finance the sale of their companies. There are an endless number of important topics to cover. I will make the discussion of topics here broadly educational, confessing up front that I am really using this approach to find two new agents for 2009.
