What is a resolution and oh, yeah, why do we have to wait until the 1st of the year to try and make a change for the better?

We all know that a New Year’s Resolution is

a commitment that an individual makes to a project or the reforming of a habit, often a lifestyle change. We all want to better ourselves, even if we don’t do it, we deep down want to.  There is so much that can get in the way of stopping our goals to make ourselves better. For instant, I have been blogging for about 2 months and I have stopped exercising like I use too. I have been sitting in front of my computer trying to find creative ways to get your attention and bring laughter, thought and information to you.  I have let it TAKE OVER, so one of my resolutions will be to take back my life. To get back to the basics of drinking that water, exercising and moving around more.

Why does it take us to wait until the beginning of a new year to start this commitment?

There really isn’t any good answer for that but one…. Procrastination.  I am doing this right now. For example: My husband and I are wanting to lose some extra poundage we managed to accumulate due to stuffing in our bodies over the holidays and he says, “Let’s wait until the first of the year and do it together?”  I am saying, “I have floor duty next week and I need to do something now! I won’t be able to wear my pants comfortably.” He says, “That’s why I buy the stretchy pants!” hmmmmm. (For those who don’t know me, all it takes is water retention for me. If I drink for the next 3 days the water that I need and exercise every morning, I will see my clothes not as tight, so for me exercising now, it will make a difference.)

I don’t know what you got for Christmas but the one and only thing I wanted was the Wii Fit.  OMG! It is the best thing ever.  Talk about getting excited about exercising. If you have the Wii, you should check out the Wii Fit!

Anyway, let’s get to the Top Ten Resolutions for 2009!

  1. Lose Weight (BIG surprise there!)
  2. Managing Debt
  3. Save money
  4. Get a better job
  5. Get fit
  6. Eat right
  7. Get a better education
  8. Drink less alcohol
  9. Quit smoking now
  10. Reduce stress

What is your biggest resolution?  I would really like to know what it is and how you plan on meeting your goal….
