Stop it, and make it happen!

There is a new development out there.  It’s not made of brick, or stone.  It does not have granite or a Plasma TV given away at closing.  In fact, it is not a physical development at all - it’s a psychological one: it’s called Whiner’s Landing.

At Whiner’s Landing things are pretty gloom and doom.

It’s full of agents, brokers, and mortgage people.  It’s full of people who are determined to destroy themselves because they do not have the ability to believe in themselves, or their talents.

Sound familiar?

For too long we, as an industry and a community, have allowed each other to dwell in things we cannot control and not focused on what we can: OUR ATTITUDE!

It’s so simple!  All we have to do is fundamentally believe that we can make things happen.  And, by the way, I’m not making this up!

I manage an office of 50 agents.  Like any office, I have agents who do well, and those who see challenge in everything.  Can you guess what the difference is between those who do well and those who don’t?  You guessed it - attitude.

I even have agents who are having better years this year than last!  Can you believe it?  Well believe it.

So, my New Year’s message is this:

1)  Believe in yourself.
2)  Believe in your talent.
3)  Believe that you can do the job that others cannot - because you are willing to work harder and smarter than the other guy.

And in this, you may find the truth that you are seeking.

Darrin, I had a normal year.  I didn't have my biggest year ever, but certainly made more than other years.  I am so tired of the negative.  I have always walked away from gloom and doom people for years.  I don't want to get any of that on me.  If they want to wallow in the negative, then there is more business for the positive folks out there.

Darrin--I think attitude is the one thing that will set winners apart from those who are struggling in the coming year. Who wants to work with someone spouting "gloom & doom"?

I think the real trick is be realistic.  OK.. things aren't the BEST out there, but how am I going to succeed in these conditions?   If we have to re-think this year's concept of success, that is still being positive, proactive, believing in yourself and getting out there to make it happen!

Yeah!

EXACTLY!! I am soooo sick of the pity parties and the toxic folks brining me and everyone else down.  I am excited more about 2009 than I have been in years past.  I didn't have a great year last year, but I am still here!  And trying hard!  Thanks for the motivating post!
