Since I absolutely love the idea of promoting one another when we can, I've started a new project called "Twitter Friend of the Week." Each week, I'll showcase one or two of my Twitter Friends so that you can "meet" them.
One of this week's featured Twitter Friends is Scot Duke, also known as Mr. Business Golf. Here's what Scot had to tell us:
What is your primary business?
Business Development/Relationship/Networking Management Consulting Virtual COO
What is unique about you or your business?
It is a niche, to say the least. As far as I know I am the only person who has spent four years studying how golf is used as a business development/networking tool. There are so many golfers who are trying to make golf a Sales tool and getting so frustrated that it is not working that their efforts are now hurting golf. There are a few people who talk about business golf, but not any who study how it is used to find what works and what does not...and then written a book about it like I have.
What is one fun thing about yourself that most of us don't know?
I have a complete sense of humor...meaning that I can be dry, witty or flat out tell a joke..most people are one way or the other. I spent over 30 years not being much fun just to keep a decent paying job..I don't want to do that anymore..I want to enjoy life and have fun.... Plus, I love to cook and play guitar...amoung other things like my quest to find the ulitmate Carrot Cake , Martini and Mojito..that is served at a golf course.
Do you work from home or an outside office?
I work from home...something I have never done and find REAL hard to do since I live on a Golf Course.
What is your favorite computer application?
Word Press, if that is an application, rocks and I have used all of the Blogging applications. But I assume you are thinking Twitter or something like that. As far as Social Networks, I like LinkedIn due to it is a controlled enviroment that nutures the enrollement of REAL people...I guess that is due to all the scams people in other groups have hit me with over the past five years.
What is your favorite food?
Sushi rules.... A large plate of Fajtos with a beer so cold you have to wear gloves to hold the bottle runs a very close second.
If you could be a super hero, what would you be called and what would your super powers be?
Mr Business Golf is my super hero because he is out to do what he can to improve the image of golf so everyone will want to play golf.
What one piece of advice would you give someone who wants to get into your line of business?
Learn to listen before you say anything and then remember to shut-up after that. Understanding an issue as vast as Business Golf can only come from listening..not much learning is had from talking about it if you know nothing about it.
What is the follow link for one of your Twitter Friends who you think everyone would benefit from following and why should we follow them?
OH, that is not fair..nobody comes to Twitter to follow one person, and nobody should come to Twitter to follow 50k people either. I pick out a dozen or so and follow them on Twitter to learn..also in hopes that they will follow me to learn. I have learned so much everyday about a lot things I did not know about yesterday all from following people who follow me. OK, if I have to. today, I enjoy following @johnlusher . I usually prefer to follow people who use their name and have credentials on LinkedIn...but like so many on Tweets who are on my A List, following John leads me to others to follow and learn from.
