I  believe that we live in the best country in the world.  Yes, there are things that could bHomes Fo rOur Troopse   better, but at least we have the freedom to talk and write about what we don't like.  And  although I would not want my sons to joint the armed services, should they do so, I would be proud and support them 100%.

Pacific Crest TrailSo, a couple of weeks back, three incredible young men came to our office.   The three friends from Westlake Village, Scott Williams (23), Paul Rose (22), and Matthew Walker (21) are all alumni of Westlake High School Choral Music Department and formed the group Trek For Troops.  In May of 2009 these amazing guys will sing and hike all 2600 miles of the Pacific Crest Trail, stretching from the Mexican border all the way up to Canada, to raise awareness of a noble charity called Homes For Our Troops.  For over three months they will battle the weather elements and be sleeping in rough terrains across this Challenging trail, all in the hopes of bettering the lives of our nation's heroes.

For five years, Homes for Our Troops, has given back to our severely wounded war veterans by building and adapting homes for them that accomodate for the handicaps they received while protecting all of us and our freedom.  Please help these young men in any way you can.  You can donate via their website at  For more information, email them at

Jeff, I missed Carols post the first time around and am grateful you re-blogged it.  What these volunteers do is amazing and un-selfish.

I flagged this.  This is such an underappreciated group for our country.  Without them we wouldn't have even what we have.  Needless to say....AWESOME post.

Hi Jeff - thanks for putting Carol's post out there for us to find. And what great work these volunteers are doing. There can never be enough done for those who put their lives on the line for all of us - and may this kind of work continue on their behalf forever. Happy New Year, Ann
