It's remarkable that such a small token of appreciation will make someone's day a little brighter, give them a reason to smile once more and lift their heart and soul to renewed heights. Those little tokens of appreciation come in the form of a comment, a heartfelt notation in a card or maybe even a lengthy speech that will give another wings to soar to heights they've not been to before.
Everyone loves to be appreciated and acknowledged for something they have done for another. That's not to say that there is anything material expected in return. Just a thank you will do just fine, thank you.
My doggie wags her tail when she appreciates us. Like when we pat her on the head, or hug her when she rolls in the warm laundry and acts like a nut. She is always prancing and bopping around with a smile and showing us how much she appreciates us. Those are the wonderful rewards for taking good care of our 'family member'. She loves us back.
My last transaction for 2008 recorded this morning and the last couple of days were pretty stressful. Without going into detail let me just say I'm proud of myself for the slack I picked up when others were not being team players to make this happen for my clients.
All the drama went right out the window when I handed the keys to my client and he hugged me and told me how much he appreciated everything I had done for him and his family. I had to run downtown this morning to take one last 'mistake' check (they couldn't get the Settlement Statement right) and it had not recorded yet so I told him I would call him immediately when I got clearance so they could start moving out of the hotel.
An hour and a half later I got clearance that the property recorded and called my client. Congratulations! You are now a proud homeowner! He was very emotional and he had no shame to tell me so. You see, this is his first home and he was so proud that he now OWNS his own home. My eyes stung (just a little) as I felt his emotion too.
Again, a wonderful gift of appreciation uttering from the receiver that makes everything worthwhile. No matter the trials and tribulations that come from each and every transaction....THIS is what makes it all worthwhile.
Ah, the rewards and gifts of appreciation
I will sleep oh, so well tonight.
