Discipline is my New Year's Theme....

Every year I put myself in a position to succeed in new resolutions.  That comes after many years of failure.  Instead of giving myself a million different resolutions I move to two or three that I can follow through with.  I finally joined the weight loss portion of AR and decided that I'm going to lose 20+ pounds.  Weight loss resolutions consensus.   I'm going to close on a couple of large commercial deals to take the stress off of the need to close 20 deals a month as an originator.

As of three years ago, I try also to add a theme for the year.  This year, my theme is going to be discipline....yes....DISCIPLINE.  A lot of people think that I'd disciplined as it is, but you know yourself better than anyone else and this year my focus is on uber - DISCIPLINE.  I'm not really sure how it's going to work, but I have an idea.  I've just updated my LIFE PLAN2009 will be better with a Life Plan!!!!.  I need to read that weekly and put the disciplined activities in my calendar so that I don't falter.

I'm not going to be so rigid that life won't be allowed to happen either....but I will push hard to place some non-negotiables.  They are:

1)  My walk with Christ;

2)  My one on one time with my family;

3)  My one on one time with my wife;

4)  Continue the weekly activities to grow my branch, personal production and region.  I just signed on another loan officer yesterday that will start at the end of January.

5)  Health

6)  Vacation time.

Beyond that it all comes down to breaking each goal down to certain activities.  This is paramount to my successes.  I can't wait for the year to begin.  But in the interim, I'm taking my wife out for a morning breakfast and working a few hours then it's off to watch bowl games and abuse my kids.....or shall I say, let them abuse me.

Love to hear the 1 non-negotiable resolution for you.

In the past I created business and life plans that although ambitious, were too big for me. And they fell by the way side. There were things in my life from years ago that I would DIE to have back ... but they didn't leave me instantly and they won't come back - for 2009 I'm creating goals I can realistically adhere to.  And I'm writing them down. My hardest part is finding true accountability partners for all areas of my life. I can't find anyone to take on life and challanges with me ... I guess I need to pray more about it!!

Hi Larry.  The resolution I have for 2009 is to improve the quality of my life.  I know this sounds vague but it really isn't.  Included in this is to quit smoking, exercise and spend more quality time with my family.  Happy 2009.

My ONE non-negotiable resolution is making this the year that I trust God with EVERYTHING. I am going to spend more time fasting and praying...and just being in HIS presence. I want it ALL when it comes to knowing God.

Happy New Year, my friend!!! May 2009 be THE YEAR that ALL YOUR DREAMS COME TRUE!! ~GBU~

Larry - I like the idea of the theme.  It's kind of like the "compass" for your decisions and choices.  Are they aligned with, and true to, your theme for success?  I, too, have a life plan that I enjoy reviewing and updating on a regular basis.  Most of it is continuous and un-changing - just an intregal part of my life.

I love this Larry. It's not an easy task but it's the defining character from one successful business to another. How empowering!

Larry  - very inspiring. I wish you much success. My one non-negotiable resolution this year to become more submissive.  To GOD that is, so that I am back to a point where I hear his voice loud and clear and move when he tells me to without question.
