Half empty or half full?

By

With all the discussion of whether we are at the bottom of this decline, will we decline further or are we headed out of the trough toward new peaks. I thought it fitting to share the following with the AR community. These words address our current situation without being blindly optimistic.

What follows is the text of a full page ad that appeared in the business section of the Dallas Morning news Tuesday morning (12/30/08):

"Dear family, friends and community-

Today, trying times are upon us and now is our time to test ourselves as

individuals and as a community. For what we have see, where we have

been and who we are will truly give measure to whether the sustaining

hope that rises from each of us is to see ourselves drinking from the

cup that is half-full or from the one half empty.

In the sixty-plus years we have served the real estate needs of Dallas and

surrounding communities, we have witnessed the cycle of economic

uncertainties that have unsettled markets and families across our nation

and our great state. While we in North Texas may have escaped the

worst of the housing and economic storms thus far, the ripple is sure to affect

each of us in ways yet unseen. But we will remain, as our experience has

meted out, optimistically committed to the same strong business ethics and

common sense that allows us to drink from the glass that is half full,

confident of a history that anticipates an acceleration through the turn.

We encourage you to foster the "can do" perspective for which we

Texans are known. That has always been our stand in the

midst of uncharted times---that is what we are made of.

We will always be here.

So from the glass half-full, we wish you a happy, healthy and

prosperous new year of sustained hope for all the tomorrows to follow."
