First... Happy 2009. I hope that your 2009 will be happy, healthy, and prosperous.
I had a call last month from an investor, wanting to give me notice he will be buying some bank-owned properties in the Poicnciana, FL area. God knows there are enough there to give him a good selection! He said he would be calling me to do inspections over the next few months. But, as many times when I get a call like this, I filed it away, not holding my breath...
Then, yesterday, he calls. He needs the first of several inspections - he may be buying as many as 10+ properties over the next few months. But, he needs this one done as soon as possible. Like many or most of these properties, he has a limited time to do inspections.
I offered to do it tomorrow - meaning today - on New Year's Day. He was quiet for a moment, then said," That's New Year's Day!" I told him I was aware, but if he needed it done quickly, I'd be glad to work on the holiday. Now, it turned out that the agent has still not called back to schedule the inspection, so it has not been done.
What about you? Do you work on holidays? Are there days you absolutely do not work on? Christmas Day? Thanksgiving? Your Birthday or anniversary?
I've never been asked to work on Christmas or Thanksgiving, and I probably wouldn't. However, I see nothing wrong with working when you need to. Especially at this time, if I'm asked, can I afford to turn it down? By the way, before I offered to work on New Year's Day, I did ask my wife for her permission. You might call me greedy, but I'm not stupid!
Happy New Year!
