Real Estate Agent with Douglas Elliman Real Estate 30HA0800896 own personal revolution for 2009.........

How does one go forward in these times and still maintain a semblance of normalcy? We all know that things have changed for us; we can no longer think that, as it always seemed to do in the past, life will go back to normal after the election or after the new president takes office.

How about making this the time when you no longer turn things like housekeeping, or lawn mowing, or pool care over to others? Maybe you don't have a pool---that would be great right now; one less thing to be worried about.

I have a pool, and wish I didn't at this point. But I rent my home out every summer for top dollar so I need a pool; I will learn how to vacuum and clean the pool for my tenants or find an independent pool guy who doesn't charge me a fortune for every chlorine tablet, etc.

I also have a very expensive car and I am trading it in on an used older model so that I will have no car payments....a real challenge in the real estate market!

My lawncare person, charged me a huge amount for mowing last summer and he overcharged me for the boarder garden of inpatients that he planted---24 flats, he said!! I didn't plant them so how do I know there were 24 flats of inpatients?....a very expensive boarder garden.

Next year I have plans for my garden that I will carry out; hopefully the boarder garden will look like this one:

As far as my other expenses, I have stopped buying coffee at the deli and I now get up at 5:00 instead of 6:00 and make my own coffee...delicious!! I bring my lunch to the office now--I used to pay at least $5.00 to $8.00 a day for an unhealthy sandwich or more!!!

My fitness level may even benefit, since I now walk to the office if I don't have a client or customer...a matter of  4 city blocks each way.

These are the things that I am putting into motion for the new year....Maybe I will then have time for the finer things in life, the things I have not taken the time to enjoy before:

Ocean beach

Or maybe I will get to enjoy the less complicated way things can be if I just took the time.

Aaahhhh....Life is beautiful...isn't it?  Simply beautiful!

Well, I for one, applaud you. Stick with it, and I suspect that at the end of the year, Paul Hathaway (and others) will be able to say:

  • Paula rocked!
  • Paula rolled!
  • Paula ruled!

Thanks Russel! It is beginning to pay off already---I figure I have slashed my monthly costs by over $3,000! I have become very un-stressed and I have time now to do my daily walk and I just joined a gym again after 5 years! So thanks for your encouragement...I really appreciate it!
