Why become a Realtor and do the same work for less money?

I know someone that is just getting their real estate license and is going to work for a company that pays 20% less commissions.  I find that very difficult to understand.  We start out at 70% commissions from the very 1st sale.  After $100,000 in gross commissions, we jump to 90%.  We also offer a sponsorship program that pays 10% of the gross commissions of anyone that you sponsor into the company.  That is good for anywhere in the county.  And there are NO desk fees either.  Please let me know your feelings on the subject.
