Hey, I found my desk!

   So today I decided that I should use this slow time to straighten up my office. Turns out that the same person in charge of my bedroom organization is also responsible for my office! Bummer!! I had tons of little scrap papers with bizarre shorthand notes on them that could have been discarded long ago but I faithfully kept them "just in case." A disorderly pile of receipts has been taunting me from the back left hand corner of my desktop just daring me to file them appropriately. Hah! Got 'em! I was finally able to part with my loyal and trusty desktop calendar from 2008. We shared a lot of private notes and numbers over the last year so I'm really going to miss that partner. Laying before me now I have a pristine 2009 desktop. This one seems a little uppity and stand-offish. It appears to be daring me to doodle! So far nothing but neat and tidy professional looking info is on it but that can't last too long with me. Whew! A full day now I'm off to route for my favorite teams---Go Cards! Go Colts! Stephanie do you mind taking care of the desk next to you to? OK I'm challenging you to a friendly competition as to who can make the most mess. I hear you next door shuffling through same papers over and over. I recognize that sound. Your comment about"I faithfully kept them "just in case."was hysterical. I wish it didn't resonated so strong.

Ok Stephanie, I thought for sure you were in the wrong office and were actually looking at my desk! The pile is higher there than the snow that's piling up outside! P L E A S E don't look under the desk! My desktop calendar had so many papers on top I couldn't get down underneath them all to even write on it, let alone flip to the next month. It still says January 2008. (just kidding)

Another year.....yes, let's get ORGANIZED!

Haha!  I love this post. I am so overwhelmed with my office!  I did conquer the bedroom for the most part but haven't made it to the office yet.  Those shoe boxes of receipts are really taunting me!

Teri, I should have taken photos! My desk actually made my broker grimace when she would come in my office. It was so messy looking that I would just meet with clients in the conference room because it was way, way, way easier than straightening up!

Stephanie - I have to continually work on the organization of the collection of notes and papers so they don't get away from me. Thank goodness, much communication is now via e-mail and can be stored electronically, cutting the volume of these notes. It always feels great when I leave a cleared desk.

In one of my first jobs in the business world, I was told to tidy up my desk at the end of the day.  I do it in the office, but not my home office.  My desk (and house) are generally a reflection on my life.  When I have a lot on my mind, and am really busy at work, there is stuff all over.  But I fucntion much better with order in my world!
