For those living in Mesa, Arizona, the City of Mesa offers an array of recycling programs as well as options for the disposal of solid waste of large amounts of trash. Be sure and check out their website to learn of the Trash containerservices offered by the City of Mesa.

  1. Curbside bulk item and appliance collection is available upon request for a minimal fee.Garbage truck
  2. The City of Mesa provides roll-off trash containers suitable for home remodeling/demolition projects and special events at competitive prices.

  3. Household hazardous waste disposal options available. Some of the acceptable items include paint, pesticides, batteries, electronics, appliances, tires, etc. Customers can even sign up for an automatic email reminder

  4. Recycling not only saves the planet, but an additional benefit includes money for the library. For every additional pound of material Mesa residents recycle over last year's total now through June 30, 2009, a direct contribution will be made to the library for the purchase of new library material. This goal can be achieved by every Mesa household recycling just one extra pound of material per week in the BLUE barrel. SO, lets clean out our garages and help the libraries!

Sounds like a win-win Teri.  Recycling to reduce waste and to benefit the library.  You just can't beat that, can you?

What an excellent program. I think all municipalities should be as conscientious.

It sounds like Mesa is on the cutting edge in recycling and the idea of supporting the library through it is just genius!  I wish it was so easy here.  Mesa residents are lucky!

That's pretty cool, Teri. We don't get the option of special containers in Sacramento for remodeling projects. Drats. But we do have one free day a year when the city picks up old appliances, furniture and what-have-you.

Jesse, isn't it great? I love that they do this - and they provide such great information on the internet. ;-)

Ellie, we are not - or at least Phoenix is - the fifth largest metropolitan area I'm told. We need to be on the ball. And yes, I agree that other municipalities need to jump on board. ;-)

Lisa, I think we're on the cutting edge of everything - almost. ;-)

Elizabeth, welcome home. It is cool...and we have green, black and blue barrels for pick up each week. ;-)
