Should I Cold Call?

By
Real Estate Broker/Owner with Jefferson Properties, LLC

I have been told since getting into this business that I should spend time calling expireds and fsbos but have refused to participate in this practice. I have always felt that it would make me appear desperate. I have heard stories of agents who are wildly successful doing this but have any of you built a big business with this practice? I am committed to building my business this year and don't want to waste time on chasing ideas that do not work.

Thanks

Hi Joan!

One of the problems Realtors today have is that they are following the advice of Realtors who have been in the business a long time.  The up side to that is they have some wonderful wisdom.  The downside is they have no idea how to generate business unless it's done the old school way through cold calling and door knocking, etc.   I believe if you don't like what you are doing, then you are not going to do it well.  My brokerage spends our entire marketing budget online.  With a great online marketing program, a great lead conversion system, and a great work ethic, the Internet is where it's at and where it's going.  My education company, The eHomes Realty Network, is geared toward helping agents, both new and experienced, to grow their business with a good mix of Internet and lead conversion programs and systems.  If you have any questions or would like to run any ideas by me before you spend a lot of money, don't hesitate to call or email me.  Good luck!
