That is the question. No, that was last year's question. This year the resounding answer is yes, definitely twitter!
For newbies that still don't understand just what Twitter is and why they should be using it, read on.
Twitter is simple. It asks "What are you doing?", and you respond, and follow the responses of others.
When I originally heard about Twitter, my first reaction was, "You've got to be kidding!"...who in their right mind was going to take the time to announce what they were doing at that moment, to whoever was dumb enough to read it?? Get a life, right?
Well, now think about it. In our case, for example, we are professionals who make our living by listing and selling real estate...right? If you have a website and are blogging (you have both, right?) then you need traffic and readers. Are you are interested in staying on top of the latest real estate news? Would it be beneficial for you to meet others in your community? Could your referrals increase by networking with others in the industry?
In this case, Twitter becomes invaluable.
Here is an example of how Twitter could help you turn a looker into a buyer.
Let's say a buyer finds your site while searching for "Your community homes for sale". Put a Twitter "badge" on your website, which allows anyone to click and begin following you. In turn you follow them. Soon you will begin to know each other on a more intimate level by following responses. You can comment on the market, the community, your day as a real estate professional, etc.
You are no longer a complete stranger to the buyer, but someone they feel familiar with and trust.
The same type scenario could take place with someone looking for a real estate agent to market and sell their home. Do you get the idea?
If you haven't already done so...get tweetin'.
