Sacrifices

By
Real Estate Agent with Coldwell Banker Hartwig

Success at what cost?

What is real success to you?

What does it mean to be successful?

What sacrifices are you willing to make to be where you want to be down the road?

How will you make these sacrifices?

What are you NOT willing to sacrifice and why?

Where do you see yourself in 5 years?  10 years?

Who will you surround yourself with to get you where you want to be?

Success to me is being able to spend time with my family and being a loving mother to my daughter and a good wife (well most of the time anyway) to my husband. My success comes to me every day when my daughter tells me she loves me and that I am the best because I make the time to take her to dance class, pick her up early from daycare because I do not have an afternoon appointment, and to read her a bedtime story.

I do not measure my success by my bank account - I measure it by the way I feel each morning when I wake up or at the end of a day when I feel I got a client the best deal possible on either the sale or purchase of a new home.

Success is when a client that drives you crazy that you just wanted to kill -comes to you at the end of a deal tells you thank you and refers you clients.

The things I will not compromise: my family, my honesty & integrity and the desire to help those less fortunate and in need -and that can be anything from a person to a pet. I will not compromise who I am by putting someone into a home that I know they can not afford just so I can make a commission. I have been know on more then one occasion to talk a client out of buying a house because it was just not right for them and I knew they would not be happy after the excitement of the new house goes away and once the payment and the utility bills come.

I hope that in 5-10 years from now I find myself surrounded by friends, family & some really cool pets (like a wallaby, a horse and a skunk-crazy I know)  - preferably not in Palmdale or Lancaster but someplace near a lake or the ocean- still selling homes & investing in real estate-not because I have to, but because I want to.  I would like to be successful enough to teach others to do the same -work smarter not harder.   Money does not buy happiness - but it does buy you options!

SUCCESS...

All success is not good success.

By definition, success is a favorable or desired outcome. Any evil or wicked person with bad intentions towards others can have "success" in seeing their diabolical schemes manifest, but its not GOOD SUCCESS.

My integrity, dignity & respect as a person is INVALUABLE. It cannot be measured by anything tangible, therefore, nothing can be given or traded to take it away.  Opportunities come and go, but once you jeopardized your reputation, you can never seem to get it back. Once your good name has been ruined, it's very difficult to restore.

  • To me, good success is being able to make a positive impact on another soul; to be able to impart something so valuable in someone's life so that not only do they carry it with them and adds substance to their world, but end up sharing it with others and have the same effect on someone else. THAT'S GOOD SUCCESS!
  • To know that the principles that I impart to my children is actually absorbed and becomes a functional part of their little worlds, and to hear them come back and tell me how it worked for them at school & with their friends....THAT'S GOOD SUCCESS!
  • To know that I helped ease someone's anxieties, troubles, or concerns by giving them a simple WORD; that I can SPEAK into another person's life and CAUSE POSITIVE and EFFECTIVE change....THAT'S GOOD SUCCESS!
  • To know that my husband says that when things aren't going so well at work and thinking of me helps him get through the rest of the day...THAT'S GOOD SUCCESS!!

Money...the abundance of it or the lack of does not measure my success. It doesn't determine my happiness or sadness.

Money can't buy my peace of mind, the love & respect of my friends, family or my JOY!

To be able to be content no matter what state I'm in, and have a inner sense of fulfillment, purpose & peace??....THAT is GOD SUCCESS!

Toya you are right about the idea of success.  Without your integrity, dignity, and respect what would you have.  I love the P.E.A.C.E.  Thank you
