Phone Scam Alert- Don’t press 90#
I was just informed that there is a new scam for outsiders to make long distance phone calls on your bill. This has been checked out through SNOPES and AT&T.
A person may call your home number, identifying themself as an AT&T Service Technician (could also be Telus) who is conducting a test on the telephone lines. He will state that to complete the test I should touch nine(9), zero(0), the pound sign (#), and then hang up. by pushing 90#, you give the requesting individual full access to your telephone line, which enables them to place long distance calls billed to your home phone number.
DO NOT press 90# for ANYONE.
