Start off the New Year right! We make resolutions and keep them for ... about 5 minutes. Think about this for a moment, doesn't it make sense to set goals for next year and then RESOLVE to follow through?
Every year in December or January or February, I enjoy sitting with a cup of tea and reviewing my goals from previous years - it helps to keep me focused and balanced. Then I list 6 goals for the coming year in each of several categories: Personal, Professional, Education, and Family. .
I spend some time brainstorming and then I select the ones in each category that best reflect what I want to do. My goals could include going for a walk most days, maybe finally lose those 5 or 25 pounds; create a blog, secure one new buyer each month; learn to skate or become an ABR®; enjoy one evening a week WITH NO PHONE OR EMAIL. I then go a step further and write down where I want to be in a year, 5 years, 10!
Once the big picture is done, I break the goals into manageable steps. With a goal of one new buyer a month, the action items to get there include: make 3 calls every day before noon and host an Open House every weekend, spend at least 2 hours per day on income producing activities!
Every few months, sometimes more often, I look at my goals - remember goals change as time goes by. Once you have your plan, start working!
As for me, I have already started the blog with this posting - I am ahead of the curve for this year so far. One can only hope it is the beginning of great things for me and for RE/MAX Executive Realty!
