With the new year in high gear and the prospects of not much in the way of good economic news, thoughts may wonder back to "the good old days". Were the "good old days" good? Well, I won't get into that now, but someday. (Geez, I need to check and see if I have my 'roundtoit' in my pocket.) Is this all a harbinger of the downhill slide of America? I certainly don't have a cyrstal ball. I haven't heard of anybody committing suicide as in the Great Depression, and I would certainly think that the newspapers and syndicated press would latch on to that (bad news always sells). Can I say much from my stand point, when I have a job, a defined retirement from Texas and the military, when others are losing their jobs and homes? Not really, but I can bring it out to you all to give comments about the situation and ideas as to where our nation is heading. In my last blog, I spoke of San Antonio not being hit as hard as much of the rest of the nation, but we are nonetheless in there too. Is our standard of living going to decline. For many it has already happened. But will it snowball as we try to climb out by going into debt further (trillions), as we mortgage our children's future. I won't keep on, but wonder if anybody wants to vent some. I don't think we'll solve the problem, but we can know we're not alone. Oh, BTW, Happy New Year.
