One of the things I credit ActiveRain for is making me more curious about my community. Every aspect of it. Things that I would have ignored at one time, have taken on a new meaning. And so it was last Saturday.
I was driving through the Spring Creek area of Colorado Springs last weekend and happened to see someone with a sign pointing towards the homes of one of the home builders in this new community. I was curious to know more, so I stopped to chat with her. It was an interesting conversation. A lot of it wasn't included in the interview because we spoke for a long time before I grabbed my recorder. Anyway, here's the interview:
Your name is ...?
Courtney.
And you're with?
I'm with Todays Homes today.
So you're a contractor, is that right?
Yes, that's right.
What does that mean? What kind of work do you do?
Basically I just sign for companies that contract me out. Mostly new homing developments in the Springs. I'm on this side of town at Circle. I'm also all the way down at Voyager and Interquest Parkway. It just depends on what housing developments need a signer.
So this is pretty much what you do full time?
This is actually just a weekend job for me. I also work at Pier 1 Imports off the shops at Briargate full time.
Are you in school?
I am. I'm also in school full time.
Oh, so this keeps you busy I'll bet. So you're with Todays Homes for how long?
Probably a couple weekends for now. They like to move us around to different spots. Sometimes Todays Homes will need a signer. Right now it's just for this weekend.
