Tacketts Mill Shopping Center is named after an old 18th Century grist mill which was reconstructed on the north shore of the Tacketts Mill Shopping Center lake at the lower level of the shopping center.
- Long time (26 years) Lake Ridge residents like my husband and I know the mill was not located there originally
- Newcomers to the area mistakenly believe the mill was originally located at the site. If you read the placard next to the mill reference is made to the fact that George Washington and Lord Fairfax crossed the Occoquan River near here, but there is no record that the mill was here at the time
Once at the mill you can walk to the lake, cross the covered bridge over the lake and visit the Lake Ridge Neighborhood Library
