Let's Get Educated!

By
Real Estate Agent with RE/MAX Renaissance

I keep hearing agents complain that they wish they had some work to do.  Yet none of them are taking advantage of the downtime to earn a designation or work on their broker's license.  I know part of it has to do with finances being tight, but part of it is just short sightedness!

If you really want to show your clients and your peers that you are in this for the long haul, then go take some classes.  Get your ABR, GRI, CRS, any three letter designation you want, pick one or two!  Some classes take more effort, like the GRI.  Some are one or two day classes.  Check with your local association to learn more and determine which class will work best for you.

You've all read the numbers from NAR, agents with a broker's license or designations make more money.  What are you waiting for???  Let's all work toward enhancing our professional image with each other.  A commitment to continuing education is one way to show your peers you are not a fly by night agent (who we all wish would just hang up their licenses while the market is down and leave the business to the rest of us, by the way!).

Additional licensure does not equate to professional growth, but continuing education to receive a GRI is easily the BEST way to improve skills and service to clients.

Caring expertise...knowledge for you!

Very good advice!    In a downturn, it's extremely important to get "upgraded" in skill sets/knowledge.   If one is ready at the upturn, one will be a year ahead of the gloomsters at the water cooler.    The universe rewards those who are proactive.

Thanks Rebecca. I agree - slower times are great for classes, projects, etc. And if money is an issue there are endless opportunities for learning right here on this site - my to do file overflows!
