downtown greenville sc real estateIf you like college baseball, you may be able to sample the ACC tournament in downtown Greenville at Fluor Field - 2011 through 2013.  Those dates are up for grabs and the competition is fierce between Greenville, Myrtle Beach, Jacksonville, Greensboro, and Winston-Salem.  Jacksonville has long hosted the tournament, but the next two years will see it in Raleigh and Boston (Fenway Park) respectively.  Look for more on the decision in May.

Fluor Field has flourished since it opened in 2006 in downtown Greenville SC. It copies Fenway Park in Boston. It has a "Green Monster" which is a 30 foot high wall in left field with a manual scoreboard. The dimensions of the field are the same as Fenway Park's dimensions including "Pesky's Pole" in right field. In both 2006 & 2007 the field set Greenville's single-season attendance records. The 2007 record is 339,810 and the previous high was the 2006 season with 9,722 fans attending. What a jump. The stadium is a fun attraction for families and singles looking for something local to do. Before and after the games people visit downtown Greenville's restaurants and bars making the evening an event with friends. The new Swamp Rabbit Trail with it's George Hincapie section as detailed here, provide additional recreation and transportation routes to Flour Field. It's a wonderful win-win situation for both downtown Greenville and The Greenville Drive.

If the stadium attracted the ACC tournament, fans would have a wide selection of entertainment, food, recreation and events to choose from in downtown Greenville SC. The tournament would be a great success on all sides. Tell me what you think.
