Stop Abuse

Over the year and 4 plus months that I have been an ActiveRain member, I have met a lot of wonderful people. Collectively, ActiveRain has one of the largest voices today. With that said, I am asking for some help. Abuse is a gripping fear that has it hands around America throat. Whether it is child abuse, domestic violence, or animal cruelty, it is all the same. All abuse needs to be eradicated.

I think that people look at these three different abuses differently. Some say that children have no choice and need to be removed from the abuse. So say that domestic violence leaves the person a choice to go back into it. As for animals, so people just call the movement "the bleeding hearts". For me, I group it all together and say it is wrong.

As for child abuse, I truly think that it is despicable that a grown human being can torture a child, whether it is your own or another's child. If you want something to punch, I am available. Just be warned, I do hit back. As for domestic violence, this is a two way street and people need to realize that both men and women can be responsible for domestic violence. With that said, I think that the main source comes for males and it sickens me. Once again, if you need something to punch on, I am available, Just be warned, I do fight back.

As for animal abuse, this is another thing that just turns my stomach. How can anyone abuse something that has nothing but love to give. I have yet to meet an animal that is savage unless it's enviroment has made it that way. Unfortunately, there are some animals that can not be friendly, but this does not fall under "abuse". For those of you that have the stance that they are just animals, it is time to get a clue. Most animals that run in the wild were at sometime someone's pet that they just decided to throw out with the garbage one day. This too is dispicable. And oh, just in case, if you think that it is cool to abuse animals, I am available for your abuse too. Just remember, I do fight back.

All in all, I am not a violent person. I do not condone violence and I have been raised to turn the other cheek. However, if pushed to the limits, I do fight back.

I thought about this video when I started to finish up. Even though it is only about 1 type of abuse, it has the right message.

You are so right! Any type of abuse is the same. I have been told that just because it is an animal, those who hurt for the poor abused is transferring pain. Now maybe I don't get how that can be. Any living thing that is abused just makes me mad as he**. Especially when they can not fight back. I am with you and say as well, If you want something to hit, hit me. Be informed though that I am a women and not only will I fight back, I will not fight back fair.

What a wonderful post, Danny!  My husband and I over the years have taken in friends, children and animals to keep them safe and cared for.  No living thing should ever be abused - physically or mentally - by anyone.

I wonder how much of the abuse that goes on today is due to the acceptability of violence these days.  Even the Jerry Springer-type shows, where people get hurt or angry and immediately resort to attack.  Video games, TV shows, movies all seem to be competing for goriness.  I think we've lost our sense of perspective.

When I was growing up, people who abused others (including animals) were either jailed or committed to mental hospitals or generally shunned by society in some way.  Now they are "anti-heroes" or just macho.  What happened?  I wish we could go back somehow, but that won't happen.  Calling attention to it like you are does make some difference though.  Good work!

Thinking about it and being prepared to help is very important as that way we will be prepared to act when we encounter it instead of being frozen and wishing we had done something when we had the chance. Domestic abuse is especially tricky as many women won't speak out against the abuser. Stay informed of what you can do to help.

This is a very good post, Danny.  It feels like we live in a very crazy world sometimes...  I just don't always understand why people think they are even allowed to behave certain ways.

Danny - these are all subjects that bring out the 'other' side of me.  If anyone has the tendencies to want to beat or abuse someone, child or adult, or they are in the mood to abuse an animal .... here I am.  Take your best shot - but beware.  The last shot is mine and it's mighty final.

I have had quite a bit of experience over the years with abusers - of people and animals - and they are not fond memories at all.  The whole topic brings out the worst in me. 

If anyone calls to take you up on your offer ... call me.  I may not win the war, but they will certainly know they have endured a battle.

Robin, I am with you there. Abusing the defenseless is cowardly.

Susan Neal, thanks for the compliment. I have to agree that back in the day, it was not acceptable. However, it still happened. This is why there was the Ted Bundy's, Jeffrey Dahmer, and John Wayne Gacy back then.

Susan, the domestic abuse is actually a two way street. While women will not speak out against their abusers, men typically will not speak out when they are being abused either. Even though there is a lower occurance rate of males being abused, it is still a fact that they do not want to be seen as being weak to other men.

Betina, that we do.

Chris, the biggest reason is society shows them that it can be gotten away with.

Sandy, you are so correct in that.

Carol, remind me not to ever piss you off.
