The New Year Will Bring Change

By
Real Estate Agent with Prudential California Realty

There seems to be a lot of debate about what will happen with the housing market in the San Diego area in 2009. I have heard that prices will ocntinue to go down for the next 6 months to the next 10 years.

Whoever has a crystal ball should dig it out of the closet and dust it off. I believe that we are near the bottom of the market, even though we will have more foreclosures this year.

Too many times, i have been in a bidding war to believe that the bottom is going to continue to fall out, and the skies are blue and warm.

There are a lot of home to choose between, and that is good. My clients can pick the best of the best, and still get a good deal.

Hi Joan, Yes, I wish that we knew what will transpire in the housing market. There are some bright spots here in Ann Arbor. Although just travel a little out of the town & sales become sluggish.

There are some great buys in our outlying areas as well.

For the most part, the nation as a whole was in a seller's market for over ten years. Now it's the buyer's turn to get the great deals. Real estate runs its cycles through history, There are many fantastic housing deals all over the country, so this is now the time to buy. The constant doom and gloom media reports really don't help the real estate market, but I know everyone in the real estate industry will try to make it a great year for buyers and sellers . Anyway, the media and top economists predicted we would have $5/gal gasoline by the end of 2008. So, where are we now in real estate?

I really do hope you are at the bottom of your market because our prices are starting fall up here, not as fast as yours did, but still falling. We are usually about a year behind you in trends and if you start to rise in about a year we can expect the same to happen here.

So welcome to Activerain and let us all do the market recovery dance, if there is one.
