Don't Forget To take Time To Smell The Roses and Plant Some Too!

Right now all my roses are dormant. The last ones to bloom stopped about 6 weeks ago.  We love roses and have planted a variety of them on our property.

The soil in this part of Robertson County is very sandy and requires quite a bit of amendments to get roses to grow and bloom.  But once we get that soil to the right level...watch out!  They bloom with gorgeous blooms. Roses are a fantastic addition to the landscaping in a yard and by planting a variety of them you can be sure of lots of flowers from early spring all the way through late fall.

They also can really make a home stand out when it comes time to sell.

I love roses but haven't tried growing them... may think about doing so.  Right now I am thinking about what flowers to plant in the spring.

Hi Trey... Growing roses can take a lot of effort.  My first house had wonderful rose bushes and I could never get them to bloom as nicely as the people who lived there before me.  You must have a green thumb!

Trey,

Gorgeous rose picture!  I also love roses and my roses in New York are all dormant and covered with snow.  It's been snowing all morning today.  Have you considered joining a rose society there in Texas or even the American Rose Society - www.ars.org?  Check their website.  They have lots of benefits for members.  I'm with the ARS Marketing Committee and ARS needs members who love roses and/or want to know how to grow roses.

What a lovely rose, Trey! Great color--I can almost smell it, too.

Have a great weekend!
