I have been farming a couple of areas since March 2008. I walk the blocks, knock on the doors, and talk with each of the residents who answer. I have several questions for those of you who farm: (1) How many homes do you have in your Farm? (2) What is the frequency that you walk the same block? (3) What percentage of folks actually answers the door and talk with you? (4) What types of gifts do you give each home, if any? (5) What percent of your business comes from your farm? (6) How long does it take before you become the perceived expert in your farm according to residents? I would truly appreciate your answers to these questions. Thanks so much for your help!

Hi Jane, I have a neighborhood that I farm with print info only, usually something about the local activity of their neighborhood. I have had some responses, especially when I get a home in the area sold in less than 30 days. Overall I think it's better in my area not to knock on doors, people will think you are from a religious order and actually hide and not answer the door. Around here people like to have access to information, annonomysly. Over 80% of my business is from people I know or new people I have met. I hope you aren't out there alone knocking on doors.
