I'm sure not many of you are familiar with Catster. It wasn't until recently that I was introduced to it, somewhat on accident, back when I was still the receptionist here at RE/MAX Select. If you have read my blog, you are familiar with Briggy, my kitten who is hypoglycemic. Not too long after she was at her worst, I started doing some online research, and came across a result from catster.com. I had to check it out, and it was definitely worth it.
People love their pets, there is no doubt about it. Catster.com and Dogster.com are websites that have the feel of myspace or facebook, but they are for your cat. You can make a profile for your pets, and they can make new friends, join groups, and read diaries. There is a ton of information about the care and habits of cats and dogs, and tips on training and adding a new member to the family. You can also search catster and dogster for adoptable pets in your area. The profiles are fun and personalized, and if you join catster or dogster plus, you can upload up to 50 photos per pet, and have even more features at your fingertips, all for less than $20 annually.
I spend a lot of time on myspace, facebook, and activerain.com marketing and working on real estate related things, so it's nice to have a place to go to just make a fun page for my animals. I do love my pets, and I don't consider myself one of those "crazy cat ladies", but I do enjoy playing with catster.
Catster has a few slogans, and one of them is "Catster Never Sleeps". I love this one, because during those nights of pure insomnia where I can't think about anything but how I can get so-and-so into their dream house, or what a dream house for another client is, I can get up, head into the office, and with Henry on my lap, play around on catster. I relax, take a break from real estate (at 3 AM, I think that's well deserved!) and just have fun reading stories about those crazy animals we all love.
