You'll Want To Buy A Home With Margaret Rome!
MARGARET ROME is one of those unique professionals you need to know...Here, PATRICIA has beat me to the punch in singing Margaret;s praises...and she does it so well...that I am reBLOGGING it for you =)
Two years ago, I was showing large, pretty houses in some high end neighborhoods north of Baltimore, and I noticed that Margaret Rome listed a lot of the properties on my itinerary. I also remember being impressed at how pleasant and professional she was when I called to arrange access and how great her listings looked when we walked inside.
About six months later, I discovered Active Rain and got to know Margaret better through her blog posts. Now I just finished reading Margaret's book, Real Estate The Rome Way. Read it, and you will forever feel totally comfortable sending Margaret people you really care about who need to buy or sell homes in Baltimore.
Margaret wrote her book for colleagues, and both rookies and seasoned professionals can learn lots from reading it.
New agents can learn from reading about her business strategies, which really involve making whatever the trainers tell you to do work - by giving them your own twist!
I loved her story about taking "Sweathogs", a cold calling program that drove many agents out of the business. Instead of making annoying calls to strangers, Margaret made lots of contacts of various types, and got appointments that lead to listings.
The book is full of wonderful, instructional stories that we can all learn from - including her very first listing appointment. Her own rookie stories showed that she never misrepresented her experience to prospective clients, but instead turned iher newbie status to her advantage.
And whatever is going on in her career, she applies what she calls her "WIN" priciple - periodically stopping to ask herself "What's Iimportant Now?" It helps her to stay balanced and to focus on the stuff that matters.
Like Margaret, I work solo, so it was great to read about how she maximizes her net, and she is adept at choosing the best of the tools of our trade to support her business.
This book is all about what works for Margaret. And this often has meant taking the time-honored "right" ways of doing things and tinkering with them so they work for her. And the wisdom this seasoned professional shares with us is all about the tinkering, which creates the "Rome Way".
