Keep it Fresh

Why do I love blogs? Why do search engines love blogs? Most importantly why do site visitors love blogs?

Well mainly because there is usually a good amount of fresh content on a blog. I love visiting sites and blogs with fresh content. It's what keeps me coming back. Think about AR. Have you ever meant to login and do something real quick only to find yourself not accomplishing the task you came here for an hour later? I bet so, that's because there are so many NEW and thought provoking blog entries. Fresh content rules.

Well not just fresh content, but fresh and useful or informative content. With a blog, you can easily add new articles and pages everyday if you wanted to. Using AR allows you to craft this much needed content and after time your blog and profile will develop some handy link juice that you can point toward your main site or blog.

But whatever you do, do not start your blog and then just abandon it. First of all I think Google and other SE's know when a blog is a blog and they expect it to always or almost always have something new for them to crawl and index. So give it to them. Or else I think they are beginning to knock stale blogs down in the result pages.

For example a new site I am working on already has about 25 pages indexed. That's awesome! Especially when you consider some of the sites I am competing with only have 100 pages indexed and they've been around for years. Within the year I should have substantially more content than them in the SE's indexes. Combine that with a strong backlink profile and I have the makings for an extremely high traffic, income generating site.

Will it be easy? Will it come overnight? Of course not. I would be a fool to think so. All I know for sure is that with a little luck, and a whole lot of hard work and late nights, I will eventually leave the competition in the dust and hopefully be getting much of the highly coveted search engine traffic for my key terms.

Dear Jason,

Thanks for the encouragement! I started effectively last January, did one post and dropped out until December. Now I am just banging it out. If I don't have an idea for a post, I just comment.

Thanks,

Barbara

Blogging is a slow process, you will definitely not get new clients or leads from the first post.  It takes a while.  But the rewards are definitely, definitely worth it!

It matters to us as much as it matters to you.

Thanks I needed that.  As far as time committed, it is the perfect thing to do instead of channel surfing in the wasteland of tv.
