What are You Dwelling On?

I have just read a Wonderful Quote by Marian Wright Edelman, founder of the Children's Defense Fund.  This quote is out of her book "The Sea is So Wide and My Boat is So Small"

Quote reads "Dont Dwell on what you Lack, Dwell on what you have and use it to the fullest with Gratitude.  Dont Dwell on your Failures-Learn from them and Move On.  Dont Dwell on your fears and sorrows-Dwell on Your Hopes"   Pretty Amazing Stuff if you think about it.

Some of us are really good at Dwelling on the Negative things in Life.  I consider myself a Very Positive Person, but I do sometimes Dwell on things that are Negative and Out of My Control!  There is a maried of lists of things to think about that are not positive, the economy, our Health Care system, our parents that are getting old and frailer, our children and the challenges that they will face as they age, etc.
I have decided to be more positive, I will not participate in any negative talk or join in group (s) when they are being negative.  It may be difficult at times, but I think that is is doable.  Life really  can be an exciting, adventurous etc if you let it!

So my question to you is "What are you going to Dwell on This Year and in the Years to Come?"

Hey, Sylvie. I used to do a lot of dwelling on negative stuff until I met my marketing guru 15 years ago. Through him I learned that I can very much control many things around me. I do that by creating a plan for my life, both business and personal. The I'll break that life plan into five-year increments, then into years, months, weeks, days, and sometimes even hours to determine how I am going to reach my life goal. By working those days persistently and consistently, I've been able to create niche markets, niche economies, and even niche environments that seem to insulate me from the doom and gloom that is going on around me.

I can't control how the banks spend their bail-out money, but I can control how I spend my own money. I couldn't control the negative ranting and raving about politicians that occured in many blogs here prior to the election. I can remain Pleasant, Polite, Personable, Positive, and Professional, which often, of course, just makes them more negative and causes more ranting and raving. When it does, they get scratched off of my peepee ( i.e., PP, or Positive People) list, and I don't visit them anymore.

As the author Louise Hay says in one of her books (loosely quoted), "You didn't get to choose which family you were born into, but you can choose the family that is in your life at any moment."

Hey, Sylvie.

That comment above that shows Russel is actually by me. I think I'm going to have to quit using this big computer of his and go get my own big computer. This is the second time I've done this in the past couple of weeks. Sorry about that.

Sylvie, I like these quotes. I try never to dwell on things I cannot change, or that bring me down. I think some of that comes with age, but it's definitely a "choice."

I'm not familiar with that book, but I think I shall have to check it out. Sounds like my kind of book.
