Stepping up enforcement of the Town's Curfew Ordinance, the Flower Mound Police Department has initiated a Curfew Ordinance Enforcement Program. Due to a high number of juvenile-related crimes documented during the holiday season and a continued increase in the number of juvenile offenses, the department is taking a zero tolerance approach to this issue.
As a component of the Curfew Program, the Police Department will dedicate police officers to focus on curfew offenses and related juvenile crimes as a part of the program. Curfew hours for those ages 16 and below and are effective between 11 p.m. and 6 a.m. Sunday through Thursday and 12:01 a.m. to 6 a.m. Friday and Saturday. The curfew enforcement initiative will continue indefinitely until compliance increases and the number of juvenile-related nighttime offenses decreases.
Violators of the curfew ordinance may be transported to the Police Department and cited, with their parents being notified to pick them up. Juveniles apprehended while committing more serious violations may be transported to Denton County Juvenile Detention Facility. Flower Mound Police are seeking community support with this initiative. Residents who see juveniles out after curfew hours are encouraged to contact the Police Department at 972.539.0525. For emergencies, please call 9-1-1
